Norwich Unlit
The unlit at Ian and Rosie’s place in Norwich had a bill of eight acts (some of them full bands) and all playing in the incredible surroundings of their dining room while people crammed in all around and overflowed into the garden. They’d even put up a gazebo so that nobody got wet.
Stuffed animals and stag heads, beautiful little nick nacks and strange ornaments were hung and placed all about. Later in the night Rosie showed me the curtain she had embroidered with bears and flowers and the little dolls she makes. My god, she had even made little dolls of some of the performers who were there that night and they all lived in a little dolls house. She said she would make one of me! What an honour.
Having so many acts play the Unlit actually turned out to be brilliant. A lot of variety and entertainment for everyone. We were lucky to have our friend Josh Weller come up from London, back to his old stomping ground, to play.
Sharon Lewis stunned everyone with her voice...
The Lost Levels got the party going and were the last ones standing at 4am, jamming great cover versions of Everybody Wants To Rule The World and Video Killed The Radio Star...
A 15-year old girl called Ruby And Her Horses gave us her poetic musical slant on local life, not to mention the sets by Galleons...
The Loyal Few...
and The Middle Ones...
It really was our very own little festival.
The lovely Ian and Rosie packed us off in the morning with some traditional specialities: Walkers crisps, lollipops, raspberry puffs and pickled eggs and we raced down the road cross country, to get to the next night’s Unlit in Abergavenny, as fast as we could.
